Coerver Coaching: How have you enjoyed your time in Australia?
Hiro: I had a fantastic time!! I’ve been here every 2 years or so, and was able to catch up with the Coerver Coaches. It’s always refreshing to observe their style of coaching and this helps me grow as a coach. I also visited Melbourne during Australia Day and was able to do a little sightseeing as well, I have had a fabulous time.
Coerver Coaching: What did you enjoy most about working with Australian players?
Hiro: They love to shoot much more and have fun. Their energy is contagious and I enjoyed absorbing that energy. They are bright and not shy to say hi.
Coerver Coaching: How did you find your experience at the Asia Pacific Performance Camp?
Hiro: It was amazing to see how tremendously the Asia Pacific Performance Camp has grown! I had the honour to coach at the camp 6 years ago and was able to experience the growth first hand. Fantastic job by Coerver Coaching Asia Pacific for making the camp super successful.
Coerver Coaching: What is the biggest difference between Coerver players in Japan and Australia?
Hiro: First, the size of the field is much smaller in Japan, so the Japanese players focus more on their technique. On the other hand, the Australian players are fantastic at utilizing the space with their speed and combination play. It will be a treat to see the players to compete at the tour to Osaka in July!
